The forecasted Fire Danger Rating for Tuesday, August 16, 2022 is HIGH
All fine dead fuels ignite readily and fires start easily from most causes. Unattended brush and campfires are likely to escape. Fires spread rapidly and short-distance spotting is common. High-intensity burning may develop on slopes or in concentrations of fine fuels. Fires may become serious and their control difficult unless they are attacked successfully while still small.
This fire danger level is indicated by the color yellow along with the word HIGH on fire danger signs. Fire Danger Signs are located on along the northbound lanes of the William Floyd Parkway just south of the Brookhaven National Lab entrance and at the DEC trail parking area on the north side of Route 25 west of Woodlot Road. This alert will remain posted until the danger level changes.
